This is Bucket, one of the characters from my French children's book series C:

Bucket is an octopus, and this is a rendition of a "still life" that I did with watercolours after my mom told me that my graphic art wasn't real because it's not tangible.

So I ate nachos and painted silly things.

Thanks C: It's a generation conflict of graphic artists. She did it before computers.

I might make one. Mom's already quilting me a purse with this painting on it.

anything that's put on paper or a computer screen is tangible. sorry but it sounds like your mother doesn't know what she's talking about. i can give real advice now cuz I'm getting into the graphic design industry. my opinion - your style has developed a fuckton in the last... year? or half year? I dunno. But i really like this. If art is one of your main passions you should look into graphic design ;) the industry's about to explode, we can roll around in 20$ bills together. idk.

Also, I'm glad I have some style. I was a tad worried about that too :x

I was almost gonna go into graphic art, but then I discovered French, fell in love with it and the idea of teaching, and started making plans for a future in foreign language education C:

Yeah my teacher was older but he understood how the industry was changing. He says he wishes he were born in our generation.

If only my mom weren't so old fashioned >.>

We don't have cable, or internet, or anything like that D: And she's all, "Back in my day we didn't have cell phones or anything like that D:<"

It's kind of a pain.

I'm totally gonna make comics on the side XD I'll never stop, I'm just not sure it'd be fun anymore if I did it for a living.
